건축의 설계 및 구축에 활용되는 다양한 재료와 구조, 시공법에 대한 이해 및 탐구를 목표로 하며, 목재, 콘크리트, 유리, 금속, 석재 등과 같은 건축물의 주요재료 뿐만 아니라 플라스틱, 신소재, 환경 친화 재료, 재활용 재료 등과 같이 혁신적으로 연구, 실험되는 새로운 재료들을 바탕으로 구조 시스템, 외피 시스템, 시공 상세 디자인을 학습한다. 재료의 본질 및 성질, 개념, 사용 방식에 대한 이해를 바탕으로 다양한 재료들을 통해 가능한 물질성을 탐구하고 표현 방식들을 탐색한다.

An overview of various architectural materials, structures, building methods used for architectural design and construction. The course explores structural systems, fa?ade systems, construction detail designs with building materials such as wood, concrete, glass, metal, stone and plastic, as well as newly emergent materials, eco-friendly materials, and recycled materials which are innovatively researched and experimented. Properties, qualities, definitions and applications of different materials are understood by students to examine materiality and investigate possible expressions with architectural materials available.
