건물의 안정성을 위해서 기본적으로 하중 메커니즘, 응력, 변형에 관한 이론과 지식을 습득한다. 건축 구조부재의 구조계산에 국한되지 않고 디자인 요소로소 어떤 가능성이 있는지 연계하여 접근한다. 이를 바탕으로 학생들 스스로 구조부재를 능동적으로 계산 및 시스템의 배치를 할 수 있는 테크닉을 직접 배운다.
