소규모의 기존 건축물의 재생을 목표로, 증개축 대상 건축물이 위치한 맥락 안에서 건축의 기능과 역할을 이해하고 건축의 구축 및 외피 디자인과 함께, 구조, 설비 등의 빌딩 테크놀로지를 고려할 수 있는 능력을 배양한다. 기존 건축물의 구조에 대한 이해와 활용, 사용자를 위해 요구되는 계획적 고려에 대한 지식을 습득하여 설계에 적용한다.

The studio aims for regeneration of a small-scale existing building. Students are guided to understand functions and responsibilities of the building within its contexts, and trained to consider building technologies including structural and mechanical systems as well as architectural tectonics and envelope designs in their design works, paired up with course “Building System”. The studio encourages analysis and reuse of the existing building structure, in addition to programmatic and technical solutions for users’ planning requirements.
