한국건축문화와 깊은 상호관계를 형성하며 발달해온 근린건축문화에 대하여 체계적인 이해를 하도록 교육함을 목적으로 한다. 중국의 건축문화사와 일본의 건축문화사를 연구하며, 직, 간접적으로 우리의 전통과 연관되는 인도의 건축문화사를 연구한다.

An introduction to the history of Asian architecture, highlighting the architectural cultures closely and regionally tied to the Korean peninsula. The course focuses on architectural history of China in terms of direct influences on the origin and development of Korean architecture, in addition to Japan, particularly from the Japanese Invasion of 1592 to the modern Colonial period. Also, the architecture of India and South-east Asia shall be studied to understand a great influence on two millennia of Korean Buddhism.
